Ask yourself the following questions...
- Do you notice an odor when you enter your home?
- Do you feel better away from your home?
- Do you feel worse in specific areas of your home?
- Is there a particular time of day or year when you feel worse?
- Do your symptoms get worse when the furnace or air conditioning is on?
- Can you associate the onset of your symptoms with remodeling or new furnishings, or moving to a new home?
- Does your home have an ‘old’, musty, mildew or chemical odor?
- Has the building experienced any water leaks or flooding?
If you answer “YES” to one or more of these questions, your home may have an indoor air quality problem! Click here for our services.
Indoor air quality problems are often caused by:
- Mold growth from leaks, high relative humidity, or inadequate ventilation.
- Moderate to high levels of fine dust particulates.
- Animal dander
- Chemical vapors emitted by building materials, furnishings and air fresheners, etc.
- Leaks in ducts, furnace or gas pipes
- Crawl space or attic air leaks into the house. Crawl Space air is notoriously bad air with soil gasses (radon, methane, etc.) moisture, mold spores, fiberglass insulation, insects and often rodent droppings.
- Most houses have many air leaks between the crawl space and the house. Crawl space air is drawn into the house by negative pressure caused by exhause fans, stack effect, and wind. We have proven methods of keeping crawl space air out of your home and out of your lungs.
- Dirty filters, inadequate or lack of filtration
- Pesticides tracked in from outside or applied inside the building
- Design or construction flaws that contribute to poor indoor air quality (IAQ) exist in heating, A/C and ventilating systems and in constructing buildings that are too tight allowing for the buildup of unhealthy or toxic agents.
